Ken Hicks

President and Chief Executive Officer

Ken Hicks is a seasoned leader with almost 40 years of experience in the retail industry. He joined PetSmart in 2024 as the President & Chief Executive Officer, bringing with him a wealth of knowledge in retail strategy, operations, merchandising and customer experience, and a proven track record of driving growth and value creation.

Ken previously served as CEO and Executive Chairman at Academy Sports + Outdoors where they completed an initial public offering. Prior to that, he served as CEO of Foot Locker. In both of these roles, he drove meaningful improvements in customer experience which led to increased sales and profitability and resulted in substantial growth in market value. 

First Job: Ken began his retail career at a nursery filling bags of dirt, where he learned patience and the value of paying attention to small details.

Education: Ken graduated from The United States Military Academy at West Point and served in the U.S. Army. He also earned an M.B.A. with highest distinction from Harvard Business School.

Hobbies: He and his wife Lucy have been married for 50 years and have a Boston Terrier named Skywalker.

Board Involvement: Ken serves on the Board of Directors of PetSmart and Academy Sports + Outdoor.

Lacey Bundy

Executive Vice President, Chief Legal Officer and Secretary

Lacey Bundy joined PetSmart in 2018 and currently serves as the Executive Vice President, Chief Legal Officer and Secretary, where she oversees the company’s legal, risk, and corporate affairs teams. 

Prior to PetSmart, Lacey spent eight years at Express, Inc. as Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary and prior to that she was a corporate attorney at Kirkland & Ellis LLP. Throughout her career, Lacey served has served as a trusted advisor to management teams and boards of directors on all matters of corporate governance and transformational business transactions and strategies to drive business growth. 

First Job: Lacey’s passion for the retail industry started in high school, where she was a seasonal stockroom associate at Nordstrom in her hometown of Tacoma, Washington.

Education: Lacey earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Washington Foster School of Business and earned her law degree from Northwestern University Pritzker School of Law.

Hobbies: She enjoys hiking and cheering on the Washington Huskies alongside her husband of 25+ years. 

Board Involvement: Lacey currently serves as the Chair of the Board of Directors of the Retail Litigation Center, which advocates for the retail industry’s top priorities in the federal and state judiciary. She also serves on the Board of Directors of the PetSmart Associate Assistance Foundation, a resource supporting associates facing financial hardship following an unforeseen crisis. 

PetSmart Associate Resource Group Involvement: Lacey is the executive sponsor of Awareness of Visible and Invisible Differences (AVID), PetSmart’s Associate Resource Group dedicated to promoting belonging by celebrating and acknowledging the experiences and perspectives of associates with all types of disabilities. 

Greg Fancher

Executive Vice President and Chief Information Technology Officer

Greg Fancher joined PetSmart in 2023 as Executive Vice President and Chief Information Technology Officer, where he is responsible for enterprise-wide technology at PetSmart. 

Before joining PetSmart, Greg served as Chief Technology Officer at Express, Inc. and Chief Information Officer at Taco Bell.

First Job: Greg began his career journey as a dishwasher at a seafood restaurant, which instilled a strong work ethic and a deep appreciation for teamwork.

Education: He earned a bachelor’s degree in economics from Colgate University and a Master of Science in Information Systems from San Francisco State University.

Hobbies: Greg enjoys spending time with his family, including his wife, three sons, and three cats. An avid cyclist, he enjoys long rides and exploring new trails. He also has a passion for woodworking.

PetSmart Associate Resource Group Involvement: Greg is the co-executive sponsor of StartSmart, PetSmart’s Associate Resource Group focused on assisting early-career associates with tools and connections to excel in their career journey.

Erick Goldberg

Executive Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer

Erick Goldberg joined PetSmart in 2001 and currently serves as the Executive Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer, where he leads PetSmart’s human resources team that is dedicated to fostering a diverse, inclusive culture that empowers associates to bring their authentic selves to work.

Before joining PetSmart, Erick spent eight years at Distribution Architects International, where he held various leadership roles, including Director of Human Resources. 

First Job: Erick’s first job was as a dishwasher in his home state of Massachusetts, where he learned the value of hard work.

Education: He earned a bachelor’s degree from the Annenberg School of Communication at the University of Southern California.

Hobbies: Erick enjoys spending time with his family and watching and playing sports.

Board Involvement: Erick currently serves on the Board of Directors of the PetSmart Associate Assistance Foundation, a resource supporting associates facing financial hardship following an unforeseen crisis.

David Redfield

Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer

David Redfield joined PetSmart in 2022 as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, where he leads the company’s field team. In this role, he oversees all store operations and its supporting key business areas, including Canada operations, supply chain, real estate, asset protection, services and store operations strategy.

Prior to joining PetSmart, David served as Business Unit President at Walmart, where he gained extensive experience managing large-scale operations, optimizing supply chain logistics, and driving retail excellence. 

First Job: David began his retail career stocking shelves in a freezer and loading trucks in a distribution center. His experience was the foundation to many principles that continue to guide his leadership approach today.

Education: He earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Arkansas.

Hobbies: David enjoys spending time with his family and has two grown sons—one is a chef, and the other is currently in graduate school. He enjoys traveling with his family, hiking and spending time outdoors. 

PetSmart Associate Resource Group Involvement: David is the executive sponsor for Pride at Work (PAW), PetSmart’s Associate Resource Group dedicated to creating an environment where LGBTQ+ associates and allies feel supported and celebrated.

Alan Schnaid

Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer

Alan Schnaid joined PetSmart in 2017 as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, where he oversees the company’s finance functions, including accounting, tax, treasury, financial planning and analysis, as well as procurement and the veterinary health business.

Before joining PetSmart, Alan spent over 20 years in varying finance roles at Starwood Hotels and Resorts Worldwide, Inc., eventually becoming the Chief Financial Officer. Alan played a key role in managing the company’s financial operations through its successful sale to Marriott. 

First Job: Alan’s first job was working at a bakery, where he learned to balance various tasks and the importance of customer service. 

Education: He earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting from California State University, Northridge, and is a licensed Certified Public Accountant (CPA).

Hobbies: Alan is an avid runner. He and his wife have three children and two Golden Retriever rescues, Sheba and Roger.

Board Involvement: Alan currently serves on the Board of Directors of CommLoan, a technology company that provides a marketplace for lenders and borrowers, as well as PetSmart Charities. Alan is also a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA).

Matt Byrnes

Senior Vice President, Merchandise Planning & Allocation and Global Sourcing

Matt Byrnes joined PetSmart in 2007 and currently serves as the Senior Vice President, Merchandise Planning & Allocation and Global Sourcing. In this role, he leads the company’s strategic approach for forecasting, merchandise planning and global supplier management, including sourcing, product quality & social compliance.

Matt has held various leadership roles during his tenure with PetSmart, including time in store operations, supply chain, merchandising and growing our proprietary brands business. He also spent several years in Asia supporting PetSmart’s global sourcing efforts. 

First Job: Matt’s first job was a janitor at a grade school in his hometown of Cincinnati. 

Education: He earned a bachelor’s degree in decision sciences and a Master of Business Administration from Miami University.

Hobbies: Matt and his wife have a son and are proud pet parents to Tegan, an Australian Shepherd.

Board Involvement: Matt currently serves as the Vice Chairman on the Board of Directors for the Valley of the Sun United Way. 

He also is the co-executive sponsor of StartSmart, PetSmart’s Associate Resource Group focused on assisting early-career associates with tools and connections to excel in their career journey.

James Elasky

Senior Vice President and Chief Merchant

James Elasky joined PetSmart in 2020 and currently serves as Senior Vice President and Chief Merchant, where he leads the company’s merchandising and propriety brand development teams. 

Before joining PetSmart, James held various leadership roles across merchandising, planning and allocation at Target.

First Job: James started his retail career in high school working the sales floor of a high-end furniture and game room store, where he began to learn retail operations and consumer behavior. 

Education: He earned a bachelor’s degree in marketing and his Master of Business Administration from the University of Minnesota.

Hobbies: James resides in Phoenix with his wife, two daughters and their dog Otis, a Corgi-Poo. He enjoys his time cheering on his daughters’ sporting events.

Monica Hubbard

Senior Vice President, U.S. Stores

Monica Hubbard joined PetSmart in 2016 and currently serves as Senior Vice President, U.S. Stores, where she oversees all store and field teams in the U.S., including Puerto Rico. In this role, she leads a dynamic team responsible for driving operational excellence, customer experience, and business growth.

With over 25 years of retail operations experience, Monica has worked at some of the most trusted brands, including Best Buy and Home Depot. 

First Job: Monica’s first job was as a shoe department clerk at Caldor, a department store chain, where she gained early experience in customer service and retail operations. 

Hobbies: She enjoys spending time with her family and their two Australian Shepherds, Ollie and Bruno, and their cat, Lucy Lou. 

Board Involvement: Monica currently serves on the Board of Directors at PetSmart Charities, the leading funder of animal welfare in North America. 

She is also the executive sponsor of Women Inspiring Strength & Excellence (W.I.S.E.), PetSmart’s Associate Resource Group focused on gathering associates with an interest in advancing women’s career growth.

Bryan McCormick

Senior Vice President, Store Strategy and Operations

Bryan McCormick joined PetSmart in 2010 and currently serves as Senior Vice President, Store Strategy and Operations. In this role, he oversees the teams responsible for developing and executing the strategies that drive the company’s in-store experience, services, and overall operations.

With more than 25 years of experience in human resources and operations, Bryan has held various leadership roles at prominent organizations, including Bombardier Aerospace, Core-Mark International, and Sam’s Club

First Job: Bryan started his retail career at Wylie Supermarket in Texas as a bagger, stocker and cashier.

Education: He earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Texas A&M University and went on to receive his Master of Business Administration from The University of Texas at Dallas.

Hobbies: Bryan is an active member of his community through activities his family is involved with including church, scouting and school. He and his wife have four kids and three beloved cats – Sammy, Scout and Tiger.

PetSmart Associate Resource Group Involvement: Bryan serves as the executive sponsor for MOSAIC, PetSmart’s Associate Resource Group which encourages associates from diverse backgrounds to embrace and celebrate their differences.

Ed Oldham

Senior Vice President and Chief Supply Chain Officer

Ed Oldham joined PetSmart in 2022 as Senior Vice President and Chief Supply Chain Officer. In this role, he leads the company’s distribution and transportation strategy across North America, overseeing operations at seven U.S. distribution centers (DCs), two Canada DCs and a team of 2,500 associates.

With more than 25 years of experience in retail, consumer packaged goods (CPG) and consulting, Ed brings a wealth of expertise to his current role. Before joining PetSmart, he served as Senior Vice President of Inventory and Planning at Petco. 

First Job: Ed began his retail career working at his grandfather’s clothing store in Gallatin, Tennessee, where he learned early lessons that shaped his successful career in logistics and distribution. 

Education: He earned a bachelor’s degree in sociology from the University of Memphis, and later went on to complete his Master of Business Administration from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.

Hobbies: He and his wife have three children, four British Shorthair cats and a miniature Australian Shepherd.

Board Involvement: Ed serves on the Board of Directors for the PetSmart Associate Assistance Foundation, a resource supporting associates facing financial hardship following an unforeseen crisis. 

He is also the executive sponsor of SERVE, PetSmart’s Associate Resource Group committed to providing veterans with meaningful career opportunities.

Cherise Ordlock

Senior Vice President, Digital

Cherise Ordlock joined PetSmart in 2021 as Senior Vice President of Digital, where she leads the company’s digital strategy and is responsible for overseeing integrated omni-channel customer experiences, programs, user experience (UX), site merchandising and site testing and analytics.

Prior to PetSmart, Cherise served as Senior Vice President of Digital at Kohl’s, where she led the company’s digital and e-commerce strategies. 

First Job: Cherise’s first job was as a swim coach for a club team, where she developed leadership and mentorship skills. 

Education: She earned a bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering and economics from Northwestern University, and a Master of Business Administration and master’s in engineering management from the Kellogg School of Management. 

Hobbies: She and her husband have a daughter and are proud pet parents to a Cavachon.

Board Involvement: Cherise serves on the Board of Directors for PetSmart Charities, the leading funder of animal welfare in North America. 

She also is the executive sponsor of Provide, PetSmart’s Associate Resource Group dedicated to supporting PetSmart parents, parents-to-be, and caregivers in their quest to success personally and professionally.

Ryan O’Sullivan

Senior Vice President, Real Estate

Ryan O’Sullivan joined PetSmart in 2006 and currently serves as Senior Vice President, Real Estate, where he oversees all aspects related to our real estate strategy and operations.

Ryan joined PetSmart as a real estate research analyst and has held many leadership positions within the real estate business throughout his tenure. 

First Job: Ryan’s first job was a line cook and making deliveries for a local restaurant in Scottsdale, Arizona. 

Education: He earned a bachelor’s degree in political science and a Master of Business Administration from Arizona State University.

Hobbies: Ryan enjoys traveling and playing music with his wife. They in Phoenix with their black rescue cat named “Cat.”

Board Involvement: Ryan currently serves on the International Council of Shopping Centers board of trustees, an organization who promotes and elevates the marketplaces and spaces where people shop, dine, work and gather as foundational and vital ingredients of communities and economies.

Ryan O'Sullivan

Rob Pace

Senior Vice President, Veterinary Health Services and President, PetSmart Veterinary Services (PVS)

Rob Pace joined PetSmart in 2025 as Senior Vice President, Veterinary Health Services and President, PetSmart Veterinary Services (PVS), where he oversees PetSmart’s veterinary services offerings including Banfield and the PVS franchise, as well as the Vet Health Services team. 

Prior to PetSmart, Rob served as Chief Operating Officer at Physical Rehabilitation Network (PRN), a leading outpatient physical therapy clinic with over 200 locations. During his tenure with PRN, he played a significant role in growing the organization from 90 locations to over 220 in a five-year span, and transformed the organization’s care models to adapt to the shifting healthcare and treatment guidelines as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. 

First Job: Rob’s first job began at a soft-serve ice cream shop, where he learned the value of exceptional customer service.

Education: He attended Ithica College in New York where he earned both his bachelor’s in clinical sciences and a Master of Science in physical therapy. 

Hobbies: Rob enjoys spending time with his wife and two daughters and are proud pet parents to Diamond the Maltese. He also enjoys staying active in his free time by working out, water skiing and wake surfing. On game days, Rob can be found cheering on his favorite NFL team the Philadelphia Eagles.

Jim Persinger

President of PetSmart Canada

Jim Persinger joined PetSmart in 2015 and currently serves as President of PetSmart Canada, where he is responsible for overseeing the company’s merchandising, marketing, and operations across stores in nine provinces. 

Before joining PetSmart, Jim held several leadership positions at Payless ShoeSource, in merchandising, sourcing, and international development in the U.S., China, and Japan. 

First Job: Jim’s first job was at a fast-food restaurant.

Education: He earned a bachelor’s degree in marketing from Kansas State University. He and his family are pet parents to two rescue cats, Jupiter and Cosmo and a dog named Zuri.

Board Involvement: Currently, Jim serves on the Board of Directors for Pets Canada, a member-based organization advocating on behalf of the Canadian pet industry, while acting as a credible source of information and education for pet related businesses.

Brent Schippers

Senior Vice President, Finance and Strategy

Brent Schippers joined PetSmart in 2015 and currently serves as Senior Vice President, Finance and Strategy. In this role, he oversees all financial planning, forecasting, and long-range planning, as well as the strategy, enterprise project management office and automation functions. 

Previously, Brent held various leadership roles across finance and merchandise planning and allocation for Payless ShoeSource and Build-A-Bear Workshop.

First Job: Brent’s first job was a Burger King cashier and landscaper, where he learned the importance of teamwork and collaboration.

Education: He graduated from Fort Hays State University with a bachelor’s degree in political science, later earning his Master of Business Administration.

Hobbies: He is an active volunteer at his church and coaches youth sports teams. Brent, his wife, and four children have four dogs, a bearded dragon, a leopard gecko, and a fish.
