Recently, Florida area PetSmart leaders teamed up with Banfield to make a dream come true for four-year-old Nora. Hosted by the Pediatric Cancer Foundation, the Fashion Fund the Cure event matched role models with young children undergoing cancer treatment to accompany them at the gala’s “Dream Walk.”
The walk is a special portion of the evening where the children walk down a fashion runway dressed in the attire of their dream profession. They are joined by role models in their industry of their choice.
Nora, who is battling Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia, is four years old and loves to play vet with her dog. Together with Dr. Janese Williams from Banfield, Rich Tavars and Sandra Ynclan (and Sandra’s dog, Amadeus) presented Nora with a certificate deeming her an honorary PetSmart veterinarian. They also gave her a custom-made lab coat, stethoscope and a gift basket full of PetSmart toys and treats for her dog and supplies for her at-home vet clinic.
“Sandra and I were honored and humbled to meet Nora and accompany her on the Dream Walk,” said Rich Tavars, district leader at PetSmart. “Not only were we inspired by her courageous spirit, we were moved by her love of pets. Despite the cameras and lights, I think Nora’s favorite part of the whole event was hanging out with Amadeus!”
