Remi was no stranger to the associates at the Tucson, Arizona, Broadway PetsHotel. For several years, the Catahoula Leopard Dog spent most weekdays at Doggie Day Camp while his pet parent, Linda, was at work. Remi had severe separation anxiety, but he was comfortable at the PetsHotel.
“Without the PetsHotel, I probably wouldn’t have been able to keep him because of his separation anxiety,” Linda said. “I could leave him there and not have to worry about a possible panic attack. This was a perfect solution to a complicated problem.”
There was not a day that Remi walked into the PetsHotel without greeting every team member. His sweet nature and happy-go-lucky personality earned him the nickname “Rem-Rem” from the staff.
In October, Remi was staying at the PetsHotel while Linda was out of town for a wedding. Sadly, Remi’s health suddenly took a turn for the worse and he was taken to the nearby emergency vet clinic. When PetsHotel staff notified their manager, Kristina, of Remi’s health decline, she immediately rushed to Remi’s side.
Far from home, Linda and the veterinarian had to make a difficult decision over the phone. Although Linda was heartbroken she couldn’t be with Remi in his final moments, she says she was grateful knowing he was with someone he knew and trusted. “I can never repay the kindness and compassion shown by Kristina,” she said. “She truly went above and beyond for us. It is easy to see that this team truly loves the dogs under their care.”
