Last fall, PetSmart, largest specialty pet retailer of services and solutions for pets, rallied its 55,000 associates across the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico to come together to give back during the company’s enterprise-wide week of volunteering. During this time, PetSmart associates from the company’s stores, distribution centers and home offices participated in a variety of volunteer projects including building habitats, grooming pets awaiting adoption, walking shelter dogs and cleaning up facilities.
Local stylists from PetSmart Grooming Salons in Tucson, Arizona and Houston, Texas volunteered their time at local animal welfare organizations getting hundreds pets ready for adoption by clipping nails, giving baths and haircuts…and lots of love.
PetSmart stylist, Julia Velasquez, recalls the experience as rewarding in more ways than one.“I loved going to our local humane society and bathing the dogs,” she said. “I became obsessed with one pup in particular – Theo – and put in an application to adopt him that same day. I was so excited to bring him home and become his forever family.”
