Costume Parade, Free Treat Bags In-Store Oct. 20 and 21
PHOENIX – October 10, 2018 – With Halloween less than a month away, it’s the perfect time to get pets ready to enjoy Halloween with the family. According to the National Retail Federation (NRF), pet costumes “continue gaining popularity with nearly 20 percent of celebrants planning to dress their pets in costumes this year, up from last year’s 16 percent.” With an assortment of costumes and accessories, toys and treats, PetSmart offers plenty of ways to include pets in the Halloween festivities.
From superheroes to pizza, PetSmart has costumes to inspire fun for all pets this Halloween. Among the most popular pet costumes this year are a pumpkin, hot dog, bumble bee, devil, superhero and lion. PetSmart carries these popular costumes and more. New costume arrivals this year include a mermaid, shark and teddy bear. Costumes for small pets like guinea pigs and hamsters remain popular with mermaid, unicorn and superhero options. Accessories like the Thrills and Chills™ Happy Halloween Bandana or a pumpkin bow tie collar are excellent alternatives for pets who don’t care for full-body costumes.
Dogs and cats alike are sure to love this year’s Halloween toys and treat collection featuring Halloween characters like mummies, monsters and skeletons. For dogs, the Halloween plush toys six pack features all the season’s favorite characters. Treats like the Thrills and Chills™ Spooky Rawhide Twist combines delicious chicken and pumpkin spice flavors that dogs will love. Pet Costume Contest, Free “Boo Bags” at the “Who’s Your Boo?” Event
Pet parents across North America are invited to dress up their pets and bring them to any PetSmart store Sat., Oct. 20 or Sun., Oct. 21 from 12-3 p.m. local time for the “Who’s Your Boo?” costume parade and event. Prizes will be awarded for the first, second and third place winners of costume contests taking place each day at 12:30 and 2 p.m. local time.
Playing on the human tradition to “boo” a neighbor with Halloween-themed treats, the PetSmart “Who’s Your Boo?” event will also feature a “You’ve Been BOOed” station where pet parents can fill a free “boo bag” with treats and coupons as well as one to “boo” a neighbor pet. The first seven guests at the event at each store will receive a free pet collar safety light.
