For adoptable dogs, a grooming appointment can mean the difference between finding a forever home and spending another night alone in a shelter. PetSmart’s Regional Salon Business Partner, Marybeth Goodrich, knows grooming can be a life-changing experience for shelter dogs. That’s why she and her students at the Grooming Academy work with local animal welfare organizations to groom pets in need. They’ve groomed more than 500 shelter dogs in partnership with the Humane Society of North Texas, and 85% of them were adopted the same day they were groomed!
In September, Marybeth and her team were recognized for their efforts. PetSmart’s Grooming Academy was named Partner of the Year by the Humane Society of North Texas. Marybeth and Fort Worth District Leader Bobby Grant attended the organization’s year-end gala to accept the award on behalf of the Grooming Academy.
“This teaches students in the academy how grooming can connect people to the community,” said Marybeth. “It shows the community what an impact grooming can have.”
The hundreds of adoptable dogs lucky enough to find themselves on Marybeth’s grooming tables have walked away with much more than a new look – they’ve found a new lease on life. By preparing adoptable dogs to meet loving families, the Grooming Academy team demonstrates PetSmart’s passion for pets and people.
